Engaging Work

Exciting things are happening at Morris Innovative High School. Our teachers are committed to creating engaging work for our students and helping our students meet their academic and life goals.


Environmental Science   Mr. Widelock's AP Environmental Science students visited The Chattanooga Aquarium.




US History   U.S. History students traveled to Kennesaw to learn more about history at The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotve History.




Career Planning  Students learned about college life and the importance of planning for college by interacting with representatives from Dalton State College and Georgia Northwestern Technical College.




Career Exlporation   Ms. Wade's Early Childhood students prepared for a career in education by planning lessons and executing classroom activities.




Community  Claude Craig, the director of the Whitfield County Emergency Management Association, presented Morris Innovative High School Teacher Phil Rhiner and MIHS senior Miguel Martinez with a plaque to recognize MIHS's participation in the Whitfield County/FEMA PreparAthon! last fall.



Math Design Collaboration at Work  Math teachers combined several groups of students to learn and study collaboratively in various work stations.




Music Technology  A student in Mr. Garcia's Music Technology class enjoyed remixing music.

2015 Youth Leadership Summit  Seniors, Jonathan Herrera & Trenton High, met Congressman Tom Graves at the 2015 Youth Leadership Summit.




Effective Communication  Students in the High School 101 classes (Ms. Williamson/Mr. Tallent) worked on their communication and soft skills on a field trip to a local business.




Team-Building Skills  Ms. Hollis's Healthcare Science class enjoyed working as a team to accomplish a task





Constitution Day   In celebration of Constitution Day, over 30 students registered to vote with the assistance of the social studies department.







Labor Day  During the week prior to Labor Day, Mr. Pettyjohn's classes worked in groups to research and present their findings on the history of the holiday.
